Nicolette Paige Barton, 18, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008, in Poteau, OK. She was born December 13, 1990, in Talihina, OK. Paige was a gift to everyone who met her. She saw the best in everyone and had a deep soul of love to give. She was the daughter of a young mother who needed someone to give her love back unconditionally. Her mother believed she was an angel sent to her to give her that love. As mother and daughter they struggled over many obstacles and became stronger together. Paige was always there by her mothers side when her mother needed her love the most. Paige grew up to be a very giving person. She loved to read more than anything else and was gifted in art and hanging out with family and friends just enjoying life as she knew it.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Norval D. Place Sr., paternal great grandfather Norval E. Place; maternal grandfather Robert Neal Barton Sr.; maternal great grandparents Geraldine Bryant and Joseph Bryant.
Paige is survived by her parents, Lonna Nicole and Norval Duane Place Jr. and special adoptive father Tony Armstrong; sister Tia Meica Wade; two brothers Norval Duane Place III “Trey” and Kaleb Isaiah Place; maternal grandmother Mary Susan Clinton; maternal grandfather Robert Barton; maternal great grandmother Mary Lou Barton; paternal grandmother Rise’ Place, paternal great grandmothers Ione Place and Norma Mattox; uncles and aunts Angela Garay Trejo, Matthew & Gina Place, Jarrod and Rachel Place and Mark and Callee Place; godparents Tia and David Bryant; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Eaton, Colton Wilson, Chad Place, Matthew Bryant, Blake Alexander, Caleb Lovell and Justin Toney.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2009 at Sugarloaf Christian Fellowship Church near Monroe, OK, with Rev. Roger Mattox and Rev. Les Scroggins officiating. Interment will follow service at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau. Services under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
