John E. Smith, 65 of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008, in Poteau, OK. He was born May 3, 1943, in Washington Courthouse, OH, to Charles Samuel Sr. and Martha (Langley) Smith. John married Donna Hutchinson on April 13, 1979 in Defiance, OH. He was a journeyman millwright for general motors and was of the southern Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother Charles Smith, and his mother-in-law Leona Hutchinson.
John is survived by his wife Donna of the home; one daughter, Tamara and husband Mark Balling of Poteau, OK; three brothers Rex and wife Connie Smith of South Shore, KY, Victor and wife Cora Smith of Deltona, FL, James and wife Billie Smith of Lucasville, OH; four sisters, Charlene and husband Hobert Dockery of Continental, OH, Judy White and son Wayne of Gahanna, OH, Eva and husband Gene Fields of Pataskala, OH, Glenna and husband Paul Haag of Oak Hill, OH, and one grandson Christopher and wife Amanda Smith, of Poteau, OK; one great granddaughter Destiny Nevaeh Smith as well as a host of other family members, friends and loved ones.
