Lula M. “Lou” Oglesby, 81, of Poteau, OK, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009, at her home in Poteau. She was born January 9, 1928, in Lake City, Missouri, to Otis Elbert and Ethel Mae (Rider) Milam. Lou married Homer Oglesby on May 11, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. Lou was the manager of the Poteau Nursing Home for several years and held numerous other sales jobs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Donna Oglesby, and three brothers.
Lou is survived by her husband Homer Loyed Oglesby of the home; two sons, Homer Jr. and wife Shawna Oglesby of Howe, OK; Ronald Ernest Sumners and wife Kathlene of South Haven, MS; a daughter Bonna Lou Ray and husband Cecil of Wister, OK; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hilderbrand, David White, Ronnie Burgess, Phillip Hebert, Johnny Baggs, and Doug Stone.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2009, at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel, Bro. Jeff Little officiating. Interment will follow service at Oakland Cemetery.
