Annett Lowrey Chesnut, 97, of Poteau, OK, was born on January 2, 1912 and passed away on June 2, 2009. She was the daughter of Tosie and WW Lowrey, one of the founders of the city of Poteau, OK. She is survived by her only child, Joyce Creswell and son-in-law, Greg Creswell of Tulsa, OK, and one granddaughter and two great granddaughters.
Annett traveled around the United States in her car, collecting interesting pictures and various antiques. She loved visiting Switzerland and using her major in French across Europe. Preparing various French meals was her great pleasure. Annett enjoyed artwork and leaves several very detailed paintings. She was also a very talented and accomplished pianist and enjoyed classical music recordings and performances. She was an honored member of the American Red Cross, giving many years of service.
Annett insisted that only a prayer be said at graveside service in Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Ed Cummingham said a sweet prayer before Annett’s burial. Annett’s daughter and son-in-law, her nurse’s aid, Sharon Bowen, and her cousin, Bob Lowrey, were present.
Memorial contributions may be made to Professional Home Hospice, the American Red Cross and the New LeFlore County Museum at the old Lowrey Hotel. Arrangements under the directions of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
