Ruth Naomi (Thornburg) Baker, 80, of Wister, OK, passed away September 22, 2009, in Poteau. She was born July 24, 1929, to Lester Green and Ola (Rash) Thornburg at Hughes, OK. Ruth Thornburg married Marlton (Bill) Lushes Baker on May 6, 1950 at Van Buren, AR. She was a member of Ellis Chapel Assembly of God Church.
Naomi Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Baker, a son Gary Baker, two sisters, Wilma Perry and Mable Thornburg, brother George Thornburg, and grandson Dev Padamadan.
She is survived by a son Mark and wife Bonnie Baker of Celina, TX; two daughters, Diana Dameron and Cindy Burke both of Poteau; six grandchildren, Christy Krebbs of Poteau, OK, Brian and wife Misty Dameron of Rogers, AR, Candice Burke Padamadan of Dublin, OH, Nathan Burke of Bowling Green, OH, L.C. Josh Baker U.S.M.C. and Lynsay Baker of Celina TX; six great grandchildren, Cody Tylor Brown, Niklas Rose, Trey Krebbs, Blake Dameron, Keelan Dameron and Parrish Dameron; five sisters, Esther Richie of Newcastle, CA, Lois Magdalene and husband Jim Jozens of Roseville, CA, Zilla and husband Thomas McFerran of Charleston, AR, Bertha and husband Jim Baker of Ft. Smith, AR, Martha and husband Jack Galbraith of Mustang, OK, Sister-in-law Ramona Thornburg of Poteau, OK; three brothers, Joseph Thornburg of Fanshawe, OK, Ezra Thornburg of Wister, OK, Paul and Carolyn Thornburg of Ashdown, AR; as well as a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
Service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2009, at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, OK, with Bro. Jack Covey officiating . Interment will follow service at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home. Services under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
