Mora Belle Qualls, 93, of Wister, OK, passed away September 28, 2009, in Wister. She was born May 12, 1916, to Thomas Nathaniel and Mary Lou (Marler) Scott at Pleasant Valley near Poteau, OK. Mora was the widow of Chester Leon Qualls. Mora was born and lived her entire life in Pleasant Valley. She and Chester were ranchers and Quarter Horse breeders. She retired from Hamlin Manufacturing Plant where she was a seamstress for sixteen years and was also known for her cooking at the livestock auction barn cafes. Her talents were numerous and included painting, bowling, clogging and quilting. She loved her association at Ellis Chapel and especially enjoyed the fellowship and special singing.
Mora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Leo Blaney Qualls; three brothers, Troy Scott, Marler Scott and Judson Scott; three sisters, Ada Drewry, Georgia Christopher and Francis Miller.
She is survived by a son Durwood Dean and wife Sandy Qualls of Wister, six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, special granddaughter Brenda Wright; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and her adopted family Eddie and Ann McCroskey, their children and grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. She counted among her blessings special neighbors, Colene Shaw, Opel Morgan and Sharon Smith.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Qualls, David Qualls, Reggie Qualls, Matthew Qualls, Jarred Qualls and Eddie McCroskey, Jr
Service will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 30 , 2009, at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, OK, with Bro. Jack Covey officiating . Interment will follow service at Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK. Services under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
