Dorothy Atkins Petty
Dorothy Atkins Petty, 89, of McCurtain, OK passed into eternal life on October 24, 2009 in Poteau, OK. She was born on January 5, 1920 in Keota, OK to John Robert and Leoma (Poe) Atkins. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of McCurtain, OK. Because of her love for the lord Jesus, she loved and was loved by all who knew her. For the past four years, Dorothy had been a resident of Oaks Healthcare Center in Poteau, OK.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, W.L. “Bill” Petty, sons Tommy, Larry and Billy Ray Petty, daughter-in-law Bobbie Jo Petty, two granddaughters, three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by one son, Robert and wife Janice of McCurtain, OK; two daughters, Trish Horsley and husband Charlie of Poteau, OK and Louise Shay of Oklahoma City, OK; three daughters-in-law, Twyla Petty of Dallas, TX, Nancy Petty of McCurtain, OK, Judith Petty of Oklahoma City, OK; twelve grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; nieces nephews, and countless friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Free Will Baptist Church in McCurtain, OK with the Rev. Nathanial Craig officiating, Interment will follow at Miners Cemetery in McCurtain. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau, OK.
