Cecil Staton, 87, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Poteau, passed away November 19, 2009, in OKC. He was born July 3, 1922, in Bokoshe, OK, to Cecil A. and Rose (Cariker) Staton. Cecil married Dean Mos on October 18, 1945 in Ft. Smith, AR. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired minister. He was pastor of First Baptist Church in Bokoshe, First Baptist Church in Wister, First Baptist Church in Charleston, Arkansas, and the Immanuel Baptist Church in Henryetta. After leaving the pastorate, he served as the Director of the Southern Baptist Division of the World Home Bible League.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dean and one sister, Amelia.
He is survived by a son Ron Staton and wife Susan of Oklahoma City; two grandsons Scott Staton and wife Angela of Oklahoma City and Michael Staton and wife Marcy of Mustang, OK; four great grandchildren, Cole, Cael, Kennedy and Benjamin; a brother Eugene Staton and wife Vera of Poteau, OK; as well as a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
