John Roby Pickering, 85, of Poteau, OK, passed away January 17, 2010, in Poteau, OK. He was born June 2, 1924, at Paris, TX, to John R. and Stella Elizabeth (Thrailkill) Pickering. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired T.V. repairman. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Clark, Bobby Linda Lucas and Nellie Francis Chelton. John is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Rose) Pickering, of the home; two stepsons, Curtis Morgan and wife June, of Talihina, OK, and Gary Morgan and wife Paulette, of Poteau, OK; two stepdaughters, Evelyn Potts and husband Eldon, of Whitesboro, OK, and Virginia Wilson and husband Tommy, of Poteau, OK; a brother Henry “Bud” Lucas and wife Jean, of Mobile, AL; seven step-grandchildren and ten step-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family, friends and loved ones. Pallbearers will be Leon Potts, Jackie Neal, Robert Hubbard, Mike Mings, Leo Bohannon and Eugene Morgan. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at the Assembly of God Church, Muse, OK, with the Rev. Billy Watkins officiating.
