Rosalyn “Babe” Jean Rivers, 76, of Rock Island, OK, passed away February 15, 2010, in Rock Island. She was born August 5, 1933, at Burlington, KS, to Guy Isaac and Marguerite (Scott) Thompson. Rosalyn married Gene Lee Rivers in 1950 and never remarried after his passing. Her number one priority was her family however she also had an outstanding career. She worked at the White Sands Missile Range where she attained top secret clearance status, at the El Paso Times, owned and operated Interstate Texaco. After her husband passed she later moved to Fort Smith, AR, where she attended college and continued her career in the medical field at Holt Krock Clinic and was owner-operator of R.J.’s Mini Mart. She did volunteer work with Victims Against Violent Crimes and was a member of the D.A.R. She later retired from Harps where she was a baker and moved to the country to enjoy her family and other passions such as bird watching, her horse “Pretty Boy” and all of the other farm animals, reading and crosswords. Rosalyn was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of twenty seven years, two brothers, William Thompson and Walter Thompson, and a sister Patty Thompson. She is survived by two sons, Larry Gene Rivers and wife Donna, of Silsbee, TX, Robert Leland Rivers and wife Patty, of Albuquerque, NM; four daughters, Shirly Louise Park of Rock Island, OK, Beverly Jo Mayo and husband Freddie, of Rock Island, OK, Sharon Lynn Jackson and husband Scott, of Ft. Smith, AR, Robin Lea Harkins and David Brown, of Greenwood, AR; twenty seven grandchildren, Lori, Crystal, Coby, Rebecca, Angela, Suzie, Charlene, Tammy, William Randall, William Robert, Toshia, Michael, Bobbie, Penny, Rickey, Amber, Aunna, Jimmy, Mandy, Marissa, Billy, Bryan, Caitlyn, Ashton, Kylea, Dylan and Corey; twenty six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members, friends and loved ones. Pallbearers will be William Burdick, Rickey Dale Chronister, Michael Park, Lester Fairchild, Jimmy Riley, William Randall Park, Corey Harkins, Bryce Fox. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hill, Rickey Hice, Scott Jackson, Freddie Mayo, Ron Woodruff, Will Park, David Brown, Bill Park, Justin Rivers, Dylan Brown and John Cruickshank.
